Bukedea District unveils 44billion budget plan for the FY 2025/2026 to achieve higher household income.
The session which was presided over by the District Speaker Hon Emong Showan Juma had a budget of 44billion presented by the District Executive Committee to the district council for approval for the FY 2025/2026.
The core of the day was the budget presentation by Hon. Ongura Simon , the District Vice Chairperson and also secretary for finance on behalf of the District Chairperson Hon. Mary Akol.
Ongura emphasised that the budget is centered on achieving higher House hold income for the people of Bukedea district. He continued to say that the theme for the 2025/26 budget is "full monetisation of Uganda's economy through commercial agriculture, industrialisation, expanding and Broadening services , digital Transformation and Market Access ".
Most of the funds of about 96% will come from the central government through the Discretionary government transfer, conditional Government transfer and other government transfers, however the rest of the funds will come from external financing and local revenue.
To improve service delivery, 3billion has been allocated to Lower Local governments to support local government operations .
Some of the key programme priority Areas for the FY 2025/26 include Public sector transformation, Statutory bodies governance and security, Development Plan Implementation, Natural resources , Land and Water Management , Environment and physical planning , mindset change among others.
The 44 billion has been carefully allocated to the various sectors that will directly affect the wellbeing of the community. Education that has taken the biggest share of about 19billion shillings to improve schools and learning environments, Health has also been allocated about 7billion to improve health care delivery and improve the already existent facilities. In effort support famers and small business, about 2billion has been allocated to boast productivity and incomes at local levels
The 2025/26 budget is aimed at improving the household incomes amongst the communities in Bukedea district.
