The 5 day training organised by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Bukedea District Local Government and development partners, brought together frontline health workers from health centres, hospital and community health units. The intergrated serve delivery model aims to reduce fragmentation in healthcare , improve patient follow ups and ensure more efficient use of limited resources. Health workers were trained on referral systems , data management and community engagement techniques.

Mr. Pius Ongareno , a facilitator from Ministry of Health emphasised on the importance of team work and information sharing among departments.

" Integration means that services are offered seamlessly and patients are supported through every stage of care ." He said .

Participants were taken through modules on Leadership and governance , management of chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Management of Essential medicines and health supplies among others .

The training is part of the wider government effort to implement the Health Sector Development plan which prioritises universal health coverage and patient centred care

Plans are underway to conduct follow-up support supervision and extend similar training to other health teams in the district as Intergrated service delivery will aid in maximising impact and improving access to essential health services for all residents.
